SDG4 - Lyra In Africa
Lyra in Africa, a grass roots charity delivering transformative programs in rural Tanzania, believes in the power of education to help end poverty. The charity's sole focus is on ultra-poor rural communities in Tanzania where they equip girls to be agents for systemic change. They support rural schools transition from chalk board teaching to digital learning, through installing solar powered computer labs in secondary schools. They need £7,500 to install, run and embed a solar powered computer lab in Mazombe Secondary School in the Iringa District of Tanzania. This solar powered computer lab will transform the quality of teaching and learning for rural secondary school students, particularly girls, revolutionising the education currently taught in rural secondary schools. 500 plus students at Mazombe Secondary School will have first-time access to offline, curricular-aligned content for learning and to global educational tools, such as Wikipedia and Kolibri, dramatically enhancing their digital skills and academic knowledge.
